Presentation of the modern architectures for mobile systems, and understanding of functionnal principles of mobile phones (GSM and UMTS)

This course details the algorithm of information processing on DSP–type embedded processors, FPGA and ARM microprocessors, for sound and image compression. The course proposes an introduction to dynamic reconfigurable architectures and to software defined radio. The sound and image processing, its coding, spreading, encoding, modulation and demodulation are described for GSM and UMTS mobiles. An analysis of CDMA modulation follows, with the effects on the decoding of disturbed channel.
