My research revolves around developing computational methods for data-driven analysis, prediction and control of large-scale nonlinear dynamical systems. These methods are founded on the idea of embedding a nonlinear and/or nonconvex problem into an infinite-dimensional space where this problem becomes convex or even linear and therefore amenable to approximation and analysis by methods from operator theory, convex optimization and functional analysis. Broadly speaking, I am keen on learning and developing cutting-edge mathematical tools applicable to real-world control problems.

About me

I received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in cybernetics and robotics from the Czech Technical University, Prague, in 2009 and 2011, respectively.

In 2016, I received a Ph.D. degree for my work on polynomial optimization and stochastic model predictive control at the Automatic Control Laboratory, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland, under the supervision of Colin Jones. During this time I closely collaborated with Didier Henrion from LAAS, CNRS, in Toulouse.

After that I was a Swiss National Science Foundation postdoctoral fellow and a postdoctoral scholar at the University of California, Santa Barbara, working with Igor Mezić and Mihai Putinar on operator-theoretic methods for data-driven analysis and control of nonlinear dynamical systems.

In 2018, I joined the MAC team of LAAS-CNRS in Toulouse as a permanent researcher (Chargé de Recherche).
