SQUALE Dependability Assessment Criteria

Abstract

The aim of the SQUALE project is to develop assessment criteria to obtain a justified confidence that a system will achieve, during its operational life and its disposal, the dependability objectives assigned to it. The SQUALE criteria differ from traditional evaluation methods (security evaluation criteria, standards for the design, development and validation of safety critical systems), by: 1) their independence with respect to the application domains and industrial sectors, 2) their ability to address all dependability attributes, and 3) their progressiveness as a function of more or less strict requirements.
