Dr. Marc-Olivier Killijian received an Engineer degree from the National Institute of Applied Sciences of Toulouse in 1996, and a PhD in computer science from the National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse in January 2000. His main interest at LAAS during this period concerned reflective computing, metaobject protocols and fault tolerance in distributed systems. Then he was working in the Trinity College of Dublin as a Research Fellow in the Distributed Systems Group, where he was involved in the definition and implementation of a new paradigm for location-aware group communication in ad-hoc mobile networks. He joined in 2001 the Dependable Computing and Fault-Tolerance Group at LAAS-CNRS as Chargé de Recherche. His research interests concern resilience issues in mobile and ubiquitous system : mobility, fault-tolerance and privacy aspects in middleware for robots and other mobiquitous systems.

Marc-Olivier Killijian published more than 40 articles in (peer-reviewed) international journals and conferences and was among the main developers for several software and platforms.

Marc-Olivier Killijian co-supervised 7 PhDs (Taha Bennani, François Taïani, Juan-Carlos Ruiz-Garcia, Thomas Pareaud, Ludovic Courtès, Benjamin Lussier, Caroline Lu) and is currently co-supervising 1 (Hoang Nam Chu) and has been in the defense committee for 1 thesis (Olivier Martin). He is also teaching fault-tolerance, fault-injection and object orientation in various engineering schools (INSA, SupAero, ENSEIRB, EMN, ENSEEIHT).

Marc-Olivier Killijian participated in a number of European FP5-6-7 projects (DSOS, DeVa, ResIST, Hidenets) and national projects (Num@tec, DIGITIP, MoSAIC, SCARLET). He was involved in several industrial contractual projects with France Télécom, Astrium, Renault. He managed the ACI'SI MoSAIC project and currently manages the LAAS ARUM project.

Marc-Olivier Killijian was in the laboratory council from 2005 to 2009 and in some recruitment councils for INSA and UPS. He is currently the scientific secretary for the section 7 of CoNRS (national evaluation board). He was an external expert for the French ANR and for the Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technology. He refereed for the following conferences: EuroPar, SRDS, ISADS, Reflection, SafeComp, EDCC, DCCS and the following journals : IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems, IEEE Transactions on Computers special issues on Reliable Distributed Systems, IEEE Transactions on Dependable and Secure Computers. He was chairman of the FA track of IEEE/IFIP International Conference on Dependable Systems and Networks (DSN) in 2008, publicity chair for IEEE International Symposium on Reliable Distributed Systems (SRDS) IN 2008. He was in the program committee of the the DCCS symposium of the DSN conference in 2005, and was in the organizing committee and/or program committee of several conferences and workshops such as Autonomics, DATE, SAC, WADS, ICDCS, WHADS, MPAC, Majec'STIC, USE, POMC, Radicals, etc.
