Geometric Tolerancing: Theory, Issues and Computation Geometric Tolerancing (GT) is a cornerstone of manufacturing sciences and engineering. Much work has been done in the specification language and semantics of GT, especially at the level of professional standardization (ISO, ASME-ANSI, etc). Somewhat more recent is the interest in metrological issues and computation. We outline some basic elements of a mathematical theory of GT, which may shed some light on the current professional standardization activitivies. We also describe some new computational approaches to GT metrology and computation.
