GT-UAV Workshop 2017, organizer

Description
The autumnal session of the GT-UAV 2017 will be hosted at LAAS-CNRS in Toulouse on October 19th, 2017.

During the event several talks about UAVs will be proposed by senior researchers and students as well.

Unmanned aerial vehicles, also known as aerial robot, UAVs, UASs, or civilian drones, are robots capable to fly autonomously or semi-autonomously in a broad variety of scenarios. The research on aerial robots has been boosted in the last decade thanks to the availability of low-cost and light-weight technology and to their great versatility.
Indeed, it is surprising the number of possible applications for UAVs, such as search and rescue, monitoring, and precision agriculture, just to mention a few.
The increase of popularity led to development of several methods for different problems such as, e.g., flight control, aerial navigation and planning, aerial sensing and mapping, and aerial transportation and manipulation.

The recent trends led to the development of a new type of designs named multi-directional thrust vehicles, capable to generate thrust in multiple directions. These designs are particularly useful in the aerial physical interaction domain.

The event will propose a series of invited talks, focused on the recent works and results on multi-directional thrust vehicles, followed by general talks about recent results in the aerial vehicles community.
